OLR1 (Oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor 1), commonly referred to as LOX-1, is a type II transmembrane scavenger receptor that binds oxidized low-density lipoprotein and drives endothelial dysfunction, atherosclerotic plaque progression, and foam cell formation. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the human OLR1 protein and ships as a 100 µL liquid vial ready for direct use in Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows.

The lectin-like domain of OLR1 is implicated in cardiovascular disease research, metabolic syndrome, diabetes-associated vascular injury, and tumor angiogenesis, where it is expressed on endothelial cells, macrophages, vascular smooth muscle cells, platelets, and a growing list of carcinoma cell lines. Investigators use this reagent to monitor receptor upregulation in diseased vessel walls, characterize foam cell differentiation in vitro, and survey LOX-1 expression across patient-derived tumor samples by IHC.

As a polyclonal reagent, the antibody recognizes multiple epitopes across the human OLR1 sequence, which improves tolerance for minor sample variation and helps preserve signal when working with truncated or partially degraded lysates. The host species is rabbit, the conjugate is unconjugated for flexible secondary antibody pairing, and the product is intended for research use only. For Western blot, run cleared lysate under reducing conditions and probe with an HRP-conjugated secondary; for IHC, apply to formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections after antigen retrieval and detect with HRP- or AP-conjugated secondaries as preferred. Store the vial refrigerated, protect from light, aliquot upon first thaw to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and refer to the vial label for the lot-specific shelf life.
