Olfactory receptor 5W2 (OR5W2) is a seven-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor encoded on human chromosome 11. Although classified as a chemosensory receptor, OR5W2 is also expressed in non-olfactory tissues, with documented ectopic transcription in the testis, where it has been investigated as a candidate marker for male reproductive biology.

The polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and affinity-purified against human OR5W2, supplied as an unconjugated 100 µl liquid aliquot that can be directly conjugated or paired with a secondary reagent of choice. Reported applications cover western blot detection of membrane-enriched fractions, immunofluorescence staining of permeabilized cells and tissue sections, and ELISA-based quantification.

Practical handling notes: aliquot upon first thaw to limit repeated freeze-thaw stress, keep the working stock refrigerated for short-term use, and titrate the primary antibody empirically because polyclonal preparations can show minor batch-to-batch variation. The unconjugated format gives laboratories flexibility to conjugate the reagent to HRP, biotin, or fluorophores depending on the detection platform, making it a versatile tool for chemosensory receptor research beyond the olfactory epithelium.
