Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets human Olfactory receptor 4C16 (OR4C16), a class A G-protein-coupled receptor encoded on chromosome 14. Olfactory receptors were long thought to be restricted to the nasal olfactory epithelium, but ectopic expression of OR4C16 and related family members has been reported in non-chemosensory tissues, where the receptors have been implicated in non-sensory signaling functions including cell migration, cytokine release, and tissue-specific physiological regulation. The unconjugated antibody is supplied in a 100 µl vial volume and has been validated for Western blot (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and ELISA workflows, making it useful for studies that interrogate protein-level distribution in human cell lines and primary tissue samples.

Because OR4C16 belongs to a large multigene family with many closely related paralogs, antibody specificity is critical; pairing the reagent with appropriate negative controls and, where possible, with transcript-level confirmation by PCR is recommended. The unconjugated format gives researchers flexibility to conjugate the antibody to fluorophores, biotin, or enzymes of their choosing for custom assay development. Refrigerated storage and aliquoting to limit freeze-thaw cycles will preserve reagent performance over time. For research use only, this primary antibody supports investigations into chemoreception, ectopic olfactory receptor biology, and GPCR expression profiling across human tissues.
