This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com specifically recognizes OGDH (2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase, also known as alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase), the E1 subunit of the mitochondrial 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex. OGDH catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of alpha-ketoglutarate to succinyl-CoA, a rate-controlling step of the tricarboxylic acid cycle that links glutamine-derived carbon flux to NADH production and is increasingly studied in the context of hypoxia, 2-hydroxyglutarate accumulation, and tumor metabolism.

The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated rabbit antiserum and is validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence applications. It shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, enabling cross-species studies of TCA cycle regulation, mitochondrial bioenergetics, and neurodevelopmental models in which OGDH variants have been reported. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of recognizing multiple epitopes on the native and denatured target, supporting its use in both immunoblotting of cell and tissue lysates and in situ imaging of mitochondrial networks.

Storage and handling recommendations include keeping the vial refrigerated, protected from light, and prepared as single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the antiserum. The unconjugated format allows researchers to pair the reagent with their preferred secondary antibody for fluorescence microscopy or chemiluminescent Western blot detection across diverse experimental systems.
