Raised in rabbit against the organic cation transporter OCT3 (SLC22A3), this unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of stock reagent and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples.

OCT3 is a polyspecific membrane transporter of the SLC22 family that mediates sodium-independent uptake of a broad spectrum of organic cations, including endogenous monoamines such as histamine, serotonin, and dopamine, as well as xenobiotic compounds and clinically used drugs. The protein is widely expressed in epithelial barriers and excitable tissue, with notable abundance in kidney proximal tubules, hepatocytes, placental syncytiotrophoblast, and regions of the central nervous system, where it contributes to clearance, tissue distribution, and maternal-fetal transfer of cationic substrates. Published work links altered OCT3 activity to placental signaling during pregnancy, the disposition of metformin and other cationic therapeutics, and the modulation of monoaminergic tone in the brain.

The polyclonal format presents multiple epitopes across the target, which is helpful when monitoring expression changes or detecting lower-abundance bands on Western blot membranes or in IHC tissue sections. Because the reagent is unconjugated, researchers can select a secondary antibody matched to their preferred fluorophore, HRP, or alkaline phosphatase detection system, making it adaptable to chromogenic DAB staining, immunofluorescence, or chemiluminescent workflows. Aliquot upon first use to preserve activity across repeated experiments and protect from light when paired with a fluorophore-labeled secondary.
