Anti-OAT Antibody

A rabbit polyclonal antibody targeting ornithine aminotransferase (OAT), a mitochondrial matrix enzyme of approximately 48 kDa that catalyzes the reversible transamination of L-ornithine to Δ¹-pyrroline-5-carboxylate, linking urea cycle activity to proline and glutamate biosynthesis. Supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl liquid aliquot at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant, this unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot and immunocytochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples. The polyclonal format provides multi-epitope recognition useful for detecting endogenous OAT expression in tissues such as liver, kidney, and retina, where altered enzyme levels have been associated with gyrate atrophy of the choroid and metabolic studies. Store aliquoted at -20°C; the 50% glycerol content prevents the solution from freezing solid and protects antibody activity through repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
