NTF4 (Neurotrophin-4, also known as NT-4/5) is a neurotrophin family member that promotes neuronal survival and differentiation through high-affinity activation of the TrkB receptor tyrosine kinase. The Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal primary antibody is supplied unconjugated for direct detection of endogenous NTF4 in human, mouse, and rat samples using either Western blot or immunohistochemistry workflows.

Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody at 1 mg/ml, formulated in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant for storage at -20°C with protection from light. This buffer composition resists freeze-thaw damage while preserving antibody activity over extended storage. Researchers working with formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues can apply citrate buffer (pH 6.0) antigen retrieval prior to immunostaining, while Western blot workflows benefit from standard SDS-PAGE separation and transfer to PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes.

The polyclonal format presents multiple epitopes on the NTF4 target, increasing the likelihood of robust recognition across species and reducing the impact of minor sequence variation between human, mouse, and rat isoforms. Because the reagent is unconjugated, investigators can pair it with anti-rabbit HRP, biotin, or fluorescent secondary reagents matched to their preferred detection chemistry, supporting chromogenic, chemiluminescent, or immunofluorescence readouts. Applications include mapping neurotrophin expression in developing and adult nervous system tissue, complementing TrkB phosphorylation studies, and investigating NTF4 involvement in synaptic plasticity and peripheral neuron maintenance.
