Raised in rabbit against the Neuregulin 1 (NRG1) protein, this polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide, at approximately pH 7.2. The unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot detection of NRG1 in samples of human and rat origin, where it recognizes multiple epitopes on the target due to its polyclonal nature.

NRG1 is a member of the neuregulin family of EGF-like signaling ligands that bind and activate ErbB receptor tyrosine kinases, most notably ErbB3 and ErbB4. The protein is expressed as a transmembrane precursor that undergoes proteolytic cleavage to release a soluble EGF-like domain, which then acts in paracrine and juxtacrine signaling. NRG1 signaling governs Schwann cell myelination, neuromuscular junction formation, and cardiac ventricular development, and dysregulation is implicated in schizophrenia, peripheral neuropathy, and certain cancers including breast carcinoma and a subset of non-small cell lung cancers driven by NRG1 gene fusions.

Researchers commonly deploy this reagent to probe endogenous NRG1 expression across cell lines and tissue lysates, to assess cleavage of the transmembrane precursor, and to study ErbB pathway activation in neuroscience, cardiology, and oncology workflows. Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody, sufficient for multiple blotting experiments when diluted according to the user's standard immunoblotting protocol.
