NPM1 (Nucleophosmin 1) is a nucleolar phosphoprotein that plays central roles in ribosomal biogenesis, centrosome duplication, and p53/ARF pathway regulation. Mutations in the NPM1 gene are among the most common genetic alterations in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), making it a heavily researched target in hematological malignancy studies.
