This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets NPHS2, the gene encoding podocin, an integral membrane protein localized to the slit diaphragm of glomerular podocytes. Podocin anchors nephrin and associated scaffolding proteins that maintain the size- and charge-selective filtration barrier of the kidney, and loss-of-function mutations in NPHS2 are a well-characterized cause of autosomal recessive steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome.

From Antibodies.com, the reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum raised in rabbit. It is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse tissues, supporting routine podocyte and glomerular injury studies in renal research. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes across the podocin polypeptide, which can help reduce signal loss when individual epitopes are masked by fixation chemistry in IHC or by denaturation in WB sample prep.

For short-term storage, keep the vial refrigerated; for longer projects, aliquot and freeze to limit antibody degradation across repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The unconjugated format gives researchers freedom to pair the reagent with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies for chromogenic, fluorescence, or multiplex imaging workflows on kidney sections.
