Recognising an extracellular epitope of the NOTCH3 single-pass transmembrane receptor, this rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied unconjugated for western blot applications on human and rat samples. The antibody is formulated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide, at approximately pH 7.2, and is packaged as a 100 µl volume ready to be diluted into blocking buffer for standard immunoblotting.

NOTCH3 is a member of the conserved Notch family that regulates binary cell fate decisions, pericyte-endothelial crosstalk, and smooth muscle cell maturation during vascular development. It carries an extracellular domain assembled from EGF-like repeats, and cysteine-altering substitutions within these repeats are the molecular cause of CADASIL, an autosomal dominant small-vessel stroke syndrome. Researchers characterising the full-length receptor (approximately 270 kDa) on reducing SDS-PAGE gels, or profiling the cleaved intracellular fragment, benefit from HRP- or alkaline phosphatase-conjugated secondary reagents for chemiluminescent and chromogenic detection. Working stocks should be handled at 4 °C for short-term use, with longer-term storage as frozen aliquots at -20 °C to limit freeze-thaw loss, while the sodium azide in the formulation preserves the solution against microbial contamination across multiple single-use experiments.
