NKG2A, also annotated as CD159a, is an inhibitory C-type lectin receptor that assembles with CD94 on natural killer cells and select CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, where it surveys HLA-E loaded with leader-sequence peptides and dampens effector output through ITIM signaling. From Antibodies.com, this reagent is a rabbit polyclonal antiserum raised against the human NKG2A extracellular region, supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated stock in a single vial.

Validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence on human samples, the antibody cleanly resolves the receptor band in NK cell lysates and produces membrane-pattern staining on fixed peripheral blood mononuclear cells. The unconjugated format lets users pair it with anti-rabbit IgG conjugated to HRP, Alexa Fluor, or biotin depending on the detection scheme, which is convenient for double-labeling experiments alongside CD3, CD8, or CD56 markers.

Polyclonal preparations recognize multiple epitopes across the target, which improves tolerance for minor conformational variation and gives stronger signal on denatured Western membranes. Researchers working on tumor immune evasion, viral persistence, and NK cell education commonly profile CD94/NKG2A on tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, where increased surface expression has been linked to reduced cytotoxicity against HLA-E-positive targets. The reagent is validated for reactivity on human samples and supports experiments profiling NK and CD8+ T cell phenotypes in tumor immunology, transplant studies, and viral co-culture systems.

For handling, refrigerate the vial upon receipt, protect from light, and aliquot the unconjugated stock to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles; dilute into appropriate blocking buffer immediately before use.
