Raised in rabbit against the NHLRC1 protein, also known as Malin, this polyclonal, unconjugated primary reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µL and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) on human samples. NHLRC1 functions as an E3 ubiquitin ligase that partners with the laforin phosphatase to regulate glycogen metabolism, and loss-of-function mutations in the gene are a well-characterized genetic cause of Lafora disease, a progressive myoclonus epilepsy marked by intracellular polyglucosan inclusion bodies in neurons and other tissues. Investigators studying Lafora body formation, glycogen storage, and ubiquitin-mediated protein turnover use this antibody to probe NHLRC1 expression and subcellular localization in patient-derived fibroblasts, induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons, mouse brain tissue, and heterologous overexpression systems. Because it is unconjugated, the reagent is compatible with common secondary detection chemistries including HRP and fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit IgGs, and it pairs readily in co-immunoprecipitation or colocalization experiments with antibodies against laforin, ubiquitin, glycogen synthase, or other components of the glycogen metabolism pathway. Each vial of the 100 µL format is intended for research use only and should be stored refrigerated between uses, with minimal freeze-thaw cycling of working aliquots to preserve binding activity.
