Raised in rabbit against the p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR, also called CD271 or TNFRSF16), this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com detects the low-affinity binding partner for nerve growth factor, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and the related neurotrophins NT-3 and NT-4/5.

Each vial contains 50 µl of antibody at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, ready to dilute directly into standard blocking buffer for immunolabelling. The antibody is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, and immunoprecipitation on human, mouse, and rat samples, covering routine receptor-localization and pull-down workflows in neuroscience, cancer-stem-cell, and regenerative-medicine laboratories.

NGFR p75 is widely expressed in neural crest-derived progenitors, Schwann cells, basal forebrain cholinergic neurons, and a subset of mesenchymal and melanoma cell populations, where it modulates apoptosis, survival, and lineage decisions downstream of neurotrophin binding. Researchers use this reagent to chart receptor distribution during nervous-system development, profile tumour stem-like populations in melanoma and glioma studies, and follow Schwann-cell responses in peripheral nerve injury and myelination models. The polyclonal format broadens recognition across species-conserved epitopes, improving the chance of robust signal when the same samples are compared between rodent tissue and human biopsy material.

For handling, store refrigerated in the original buffer; for longer projects, aliquot and freeze to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light to preserve the unconjugated preparation.
