Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified as an unconjugated IgG polyclonal, this Antibodies.com primary antibody targets the p75 neurotrophin receptor (NGFR, also called CD271 and TNFRSF16), a 75 kDa single-pass transmembrane glycoprotein of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. The reagent detects endogenous levels of total NGFR protein in human, mouse, and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, producing a band at the expected molecular weight of approximately 75 kDa under reducing conditions on nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes. Because p75NTR binds nerve growth factor (NGF), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), neurotrophin-3, and neurotrophin-4/5, often as a co-receptor with the Trk family, the antibody is used in studies of neurotrophin signaling, neuronal survival, Schwann cell biology, dorsal root ganglion and basal forebrain cholinergic neuron characterization, melanoma cell subpopulation analysis, and mesenchymal stem cell isolation. The 200 µL liquid vial is shipped frozen and should be stored at -20 °C, where it tolerates routine freeze-thaw handling for repeated use in immunoblotting workflows. Recommended practice is overnight primary incubation at 4 °C with standard immunoblotting dilution ranges, followed by HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies and chemiluminescent detection. The reagent is supplied for research use only.
