Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets Neurofascin (NFASC), a ~186 kDa cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily that anchors voltage-gated sodium channels at nodes of Ranvier and stabilizes the axonal initial segment. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications across human, mouse, and rat samples.

NFASC is expressed as two principal splice variants, NF186 in neurons and NF155 in oligodendrocyte-derived glia, both of which contribute to paranodal axoglial junctions and saltatory conduction along myelinated axons. Researchers in peripheral nerve biology, CNS myelination, and synaptic development use NFASC antibodies to map nodal architecture in sciatic nerve and brain tissue, dissect axoglial signalling, and characterize disease mechanisms. NF155 autoantibodies have been implicated in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), making this reagent relevant for translational autoimmune neuropathy studies as well.

For storage, aliquot the antiserum and freeze at -20°C to preserve activity across multiple experiments; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles when working with small batch volumes. The unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with secondary antibodies of choice for either chromogenic IHC or chemiluminescent Western blot detection.
