This rabbit polyclonal reagent specifically recognizes NF2/Merlin when serine 518 is phosphorylated, the modification that flips Merlin from its closed, growth-suppressive conformation into an open, signaling-active state. S518 phosphorylation is mediated by p21-activated kinase and counter-regulated by myosin phosphatase, so detecting this phospho-epitope lets researchers track upstream Rac/PAK activity and downstream Hippo-YAP pathway engagement in the same lysate or cell preparation.

Supplied by Antibodies.com as 100 µL of a 1 mg/ml stock in phosphate-buffered saline (approximately pH 7.2) with 0.05% sodium azide added as a preservative. The unconjugated antibody has been validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence applications on human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting investigation of contact inhibition, membrane-cytoskeleton crosstalk, and tumor-suppressor signaling bypass.

Merlin (also called schwannomin) is the protein product of the NF2 gene and is best known as the tumor suppressor lost in neurofibromatosis type 2, schwannomas, meningiomas, and malignant mesotheliomas. Tracking S518 phosphorylation therefore complements total-Merlin detection by revealing how upstream kinase activity regulates Merlin's switch between growth-suppressive and signaling-permissive states.

Aliquot upon arrival if the vial will be entered multiple times; the stock is stable refrigerated and can be frozen at -20 degrees C for longer-term storage, with freeze-thaw cycles kept to a minimum to preserve the phospho-specific epitope.
