NEUROG1 (Neurogenin 1) is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor that drives neuronal commitment and differentiation in the developing nervous system. This Rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against NEUROG1 and validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows on human samples. The unconjugated reagent is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum, intended for detection of endogenous NEUROG1 protein in cell and tissue lysate preparations as well as fixed tissue sections.
NEUROG1 acts as a proneural transcription factor, directing progenitor cells toward a neuronal fate during development of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Researchers studying neurogenesis, otic hair cell development, and olfactory neurogenesis commonly use NEUROG1 as a marker of early neuronal lineage commitment. Because the reagent is polyclonal, it recognizes multiple epitopes across the NEUROG1 protein rather than a single linear determinant, which can increase sensitivity in Western blot detection but should be considered when interpreting band patterns in lysates where related bHLH factors may be expressed.
The unconjugated format offers flexibility in downstream detection chemistry: the antibody can be paired with HRP-conjugated, biotinylated, or fluorophore-labeled secondary reagents to suit Western blot membrane imaging or chromogenic and fluorescent immunohistochemistry protocols. For short-term storage, keep at 4 °C; for longer-term use, aliquot and freeze to preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles. The 100 µl volume supports a substantial number of staining or blotting reactions depending on working dilution, and the Human reactivity profile makes it well matched to standard cell line and tissue-based neuroscience studies.
