ND5 (NADH dehydrogenase subunit 5) is a hydrophobic core subunit of mitochondrial respiratory Complex I, encoded by the mitochondrial genome and frequently probed in studies of oxidative phosphorylation, mtDNA mutation screening, and metabolic disease research. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets ND5 in human samples and is supplied at 100 µl, validated for western blot and ELISA workflows. Polyclonal antibodies raised against mitochondrial-encoded subunits are commonly used to assess Complex I assembly, steady-state protein levels, and mitochondrial biogenesis in cultured cell lines and tissue lysates. Because ND5 is mtDNA-encoded, expression of this subunit can serve as a readout of mitochondrial translation capacity and is often compared with nuclear-encoded Complex I subunits within the same lysate. The unconjugated format allows end users to conjugate the antibody to HRP, fluorophores, or biotin depending on the downstream assay, supporting flexibility across immunoblotting and plate-based detection. Laboratories studying mitochondrial dysfunction, neurodegeneration models, or cancer metabolism frequently pair this reagent with appropriate loading controls and Complex I activity assays to characterize electron transport chain integrity.
