NCAM1 (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule 1) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily that mediates calcium-independent homophilic cell adhesion and plays key roles in neuronal migration, axon guidance, synaptic plasticity, and regeneration after neural injury. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 µl vial and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications on human and mouse samples.

The polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes across the NCAM1 extracellular and intracellular domains, making it useful for detecting the full-length 120 kDa transmembrane isoform as well as the 140 kDa and 180 kDa variants expressed in neurons and skeletal muscle. Cross-reactivity with both human and mouse NCAM1 supports work in neurodevelopment, glioma invasion, neuroblastoma migration, hematopoietic progenitor biology, and studies of polysialylated NCAM (PSA-NCAM), a plasticity marker enriched in neural stem cell niches.

Suggested starting conditions: dilute 1:500–1:1000 for Western blot on approximately 20 µg of total protein lysate, and 1:100–1:400 for IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections following citrate (pH 6.0) or Tris-EDTA (pH 9.0) antigen retrieval. Because the reagent is unconjugated, it can be paired with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies of the researcher's choice. Aliquot upon first use, store refrigerated, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody titer across long-term studies.
