Anti-NAT2 Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets N-Acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2), a cytosolic phase II conjugation enzyme encoded by a highly polymorphic gene located on human chromosome 8p22. NAT2 catalyzes the transfer of an acetyl group from acetyl-CoA onto arylamines, hydrazines, and heterocyclic amines, and the inherited variants of the gene are clinically used to classify individuals as fast, intermediate, or slow acetylators, a status that influences the metabolism and adverse-effect risk of drugs such as isoniazid, sulfasalazine, procainamide, hydralazine, and caffeine.

Provided as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum raised in rabbit, the reagent is intended for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows performed on human tissue sections and cell-derived lysates. The polyclonal format spreads epitope coverage across the NAT2 protein, which is useful when probing donors who carry different acetylation-status alleles and therefore express subtly variant protein sequences.
