Description

From Antibodies.com, this is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against Na+ CP type IXα, validated for Western blot (WB) applications. The unconjugated reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% Sodium Azide and 50% glycerol, and has been shown to react with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

The antibody was generated using a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 702–747 of the human Na+ CP type IXα protein. It was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using the epitope-specific immunogen, and the resulting purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE. The target protein has a molecular weight of approximately 226 kDa.

Na+ CP type IXα, also known as SCN9A, NENA, PN1, Nav1.7 or ETHA, is a 1,988 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the voltage-gated sodium channel family. It is expressed in dorsal root ganglion, smooth muscle cells, and the central and peripheral nervous system, where it mediates voltage-dependent sodium ion permeability of excitable membranes. Through its regulation of sodium ion flow, the channel plays a role in the inflammatory pain response. Defects in the gene encoding Na+ CP type IXα are the cause of primary erythermalgia, autosomal recessive congenital indifference to pain, and paroxysmal extreme pain disorder (PEPD), which are genetic pain disorders.
