This polyclonal antibody targets myotilin, a 57 kDa sarcomeric Z-disc protein encoded by the MYOT gene that anchors actin filaments at the Z-disc and interacts with partners such as alpha-actinin and filamin C. Because mutations in MYOT cause myofibrillar myopathy and limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 1A (LGMD1A), robust detection of the endogenous protein supports research into skeletal and cardiac muscle pathology and sarcomere assembly.

The reagent from Antibodies.com is a rabbit polyclonal antibody, unconjugated, supplied in a 100 µL vial, and validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence on human samples. In Western blot of human skeletal or cardiac muscle lysate it labels a band near 57 kDa, while in immunofluorescence it produces Z-disc striations in fixed myofiber preparations, enabling visualisation of sarcomere integrity in patient-derived tissue or differentiated myotube cultures.

Aliquot the antibody upon receipt and store at -20°C to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Brief centrifugation before opening recovers material from the tube cap. Working dilutions should be titrated for each application; researchers using this reagent for immunofluorescence on cryosections commonly pair it with a fluorescent secondary antibody, while Western blot users benefit from standard HRP chemiluminescent detection. This antibody is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic procedures.
