Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified for research-grade specificity, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the unconventional motor protein Myosin VIIa, encoded by the MYO7A gene (also known as USH1B). The antibody is supplied as a 50 µl liquid at 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and is of the IgG isotype, making it suitable as a primary reagent in standard immunodetection workflows. It has been validated for Western blot (WB) applications on human samples, where it recognizes endogenous MYO7A protein. For optimal signal, the preparation should be stored at –20 °C in small aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; short-term storage at 2–8 °C is generally acceptable for working volumes. Myosin VIIa is an actin-based motor molecule with ATPase activity that plays a critical role in intracellular vesicle trafficking, renewal of photoreceptor outer-segment disks in the retina, and maintenance of stereocilia rigidity in the inner ear — features that make this antibody particularly useful for auditory and ophthalmic research, including studies of Usher syndrome type 1B. Pair it with a goat anti-rabbit IgG secondary (HRP, AP, biotin or fluorophore-conjugated) for chemiluminescent or fluorescent Western blot detection.
