Human MX1 (also called MxA) is an interferon-induced GTPase central to innate antiviral defense, and this rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes the human target for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Supplied unconjugated at 100 µl per vial by Antibodies.com, the reagent is reactive with human samples and works with most common secondary antibodies. MX1 expression is strongly upregulated by type I interferons (IFN-α/β), so the antibody serves as a robust readout of interferon pathway activation in viral infection models, including influenza and SARS-CoV-2, and in autoimmune conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus and Aicardi-Goutières syndrome. Additional research uses include profiling interferon-stimulated gene signatures in tumor microenvironment studies and investigating MxA-mediated inhibition of viral nucleocapsid transport.
