This Mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody from Antibodies.com targets the Mumps Virus (MuV), a single-stranded negative-sense RNA paramyxovirus responsible for acute parotitis and, in post-pubertal cases, complications including orchitis, meningitis, and pancreatitis. The reagent is supplied as a 1 mg aliquot of Protein A purified antibody in unconjugated form, ready for direct labeling or use in standard immunoassays.

The antibody is validated for ELISA and IFA workflows, supporting quantitative serology (measuring anti-MuV IgG in vaccine-response and seroprevalence studies) and immunofluorescence detection of viral antigens in infected cell cultures. As a monoclonal IgG2b reagent, it offers consistent batch-to-batch specificity toward conserved MuV epitopes such as the hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) or nucleoprotein, minimizing lot-to-lot drift often seen with polyclonal preparations.

For extended storage, aliquot the antibody and freeze at -20 degrees C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The unconjugated format allows researchers to conjugate the reagent to HRP, biotin, or fluorophores depending on assay requirements, making it a flexible capture or detection reagent for diagnostic kit development and basic MuV research.
