Anti-MUC4 Antibody

Raised in rabbits against a synthetic peptide spanning amino acids 2100–2169 of the human MUC4 sequence (NP_060876.5), this unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com targets the high-molecular-weight transmembrane mucin that acts as an intramembrane ligand for ErbB2/HER2. Because the immunogen lies outside the central repetitive mucin domain, the antibody preferentially detects the ~540 kDa MUC4 backbone in Western blot rather than the heavily O-glycosylated tandem repeats. Supplied as 200 µl of liquid and validated for WB at 1:500–1:1,000 dilution, it is shipped in glycerol-containing buffer and stored at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw damage. Reactivity is restricted to human MUC4, with cross-reactivity to mouse or rat orthologues not demonstrated.
