This rabbit polyclonal reagent targets the MUC1 mucin, a heavily glycosylated type I transmembrane glycoprotein best known as a tumor-associated marker in breast, pancreatic, ovarian, and several other epithelial carcinomas. The antibody is supplied by Antibodies.com as a 50 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide, with an approximate pH of 7.3, and is unconjugated for flexibility in downstream detection chemistry.

Raised in rabbit, this reagent has been validated for Western blot (WB) detection of MUC1 in human, mouse, and rat samples, covering common cell line and tissue lysate workflows in cancer research. MUC1 carries a large extracellular domain of tandem repeats, a short transmembrane segment, and a cytoplasmic tail that engages β-catenin and other signaling partners, making it a frequent subject of studies into oncogenic signaling, altered glycosylation in disease, and epithelial cell differentiation.

The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes along the MUC1 extracellular region, which is useful when working with tumor samples that carry heterogeneous glycan modifications. The included sodium azide provides microbial protection during routine benchtop handling, and the unconjugated formulation allows pairing with HRP, fluorophore, or biotinylated secondary reagents of the researcher's choice.
