Anti-MUC1 Antibody

Antibodies.com offers this rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against Mucin 1 (MUC1), a heavily glycosylated type I transmembrane glycoprotein normally displayed on the apical surface of glandular and ductal epithelia. In cancer research, MUC1 is studied for its aberrant overexpression and altered O-glycosylation in adenocarcinomas of the breast, ovary, pancreas, colon, and lung, and for its role in intracellular signaling through the cytoplasmic MUC1-CT domain.

Supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.3, this 100 µl vial of primary antibody has been validated for Western blot (WB). Reactivity has been confirmed with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, making it suitable for cross-species investigations of MUC1 expression in cell lysates and tissue extracts, including studies comparing normal versus tumor-derived material.

On Western blots, MUC1 typically migrates as a broad, high-molecular-weight band (often reported between 200 and 400 kDa) because of its extensive glycosylation, allowing researchers to resolve full-length versus cleaved forms. For routine use, store refrigerated and aliquot upon first thaw to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the 1 mg/ml stock solution.
