Microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTTP) is an endoplasmic reticulum-resident chaperone that lipidates apolipoprotein B during the assembly and secretion of chylomicrons and very-low-density lipoproteins from enterocytes and hepatocytes. The Anti-MTTP polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and is widely used to monitor MTTP expression in studies of hepatic lipid handling, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, and intestinal fat absorption.

This unconjugated polyclonal reagent is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, a formulation that keeps the preparation stable for routine bench handling while remaining compatible with fluorescent secondary labelling in immunofluorescence workflows. The antibody has been validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, and it cross-reacts with human, mouse, and rat samples, so the same lot can support rodent disease models and human tissue sections within a single project.

Typical uses include confirming MTTP expression in HepG2 or Caco-2 cell lysates by Western blot, localising the protein to the ER in cultured hepatocytes by IF, and detecting changes in MTTP abundance in liver or intestinal biopsies from diet-induced obesity studies. Storage at -20°C in the supplied glycerol mixture is recommended to preserve activity across freeze-thaw cycles.
