MT-ATP8 encodes subunit 8 of the mitochondrial ATP synthase F0 sector, a small hydrophobic component of the proton channel that couples oxidative phosphorylation to ATP production. Mutations in this mitochondrial gene have been linked to mitochondrial disorders including NARP syndrome and certain forms of cardiomyopathy. This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and is unconjugated, validated for Western blot detection across human, mouse, and rat samples.

The reagent is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. The polyclonal host response provides multi-epitope recognition, which helps compensate for minor structural variation between species orthologues of this highly conserved mitochondrial protein. Because the antibody is unconjugated, end-users retain full flexibility for downstream labeling strategies, including HRP, biotin, or fluorescent conjugation kits.

Application notes: Recommended for Western blot on whole cell or mitochondrial lysates prepared from human, mouse, or rat tissues. The antibody's cross-species reactivity supports comparative mitochondrial biology studies, including oxidative phosphorylation characterization, mitochondrial dysfunction models, and investigation of MT-ATP8 mutations linked to neurodegenerative and metabolic disease.

Storage and handling: Refrigerate the working stock; aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below for long-term storage. Protect from light and minimize freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity. The 0.05% sodium azide serves as a preservative against microbial contamination.
