Primary antibodies raised against MT-ATP6 from Antibodies.com support studies of mitochondrial bioenergetics and oxidative phosphorylation. MT-ATP6 encodes subunit a of the F₀ sector of mitochondrial ATP synthase, the rotary machine that couples proton re-entry to ATP synthesis on the inner mitochondrial membrane. Mutations in this mitochondrially encoded gene are causally linked to maternally inherited disorders such as NARP (neuropathy, ataxia, and retinitis pigmentosa) and MILS (maternally inherited Leigh syndrome), as well as to mitochondrial haplogroup associations in metabolic and neurodegenerative disease. Researchers apply this reagent on Western blot to probe expression of the ATP6 protein in human, mouse, and rat samples, in work spanning mtDNA mutation analysis, hypoxia and ischemic injury models, and cancer metabolism studies. The reagent is supplied as an unconjugated rabbit polyclonal at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, with 100 µl per vial, ready for standard immunoblotting workflows.
