The Antibodies.com polyclonal reagent specifically recognizes MRPL48, a structural component of the large subunit of the mammalian mitochondrial ribosome that participates in translating mitochondrially encoded oxidative phosphorylation subunits. Published research has linked altered MRPL48 expression to melanoma cell invasion and chemoresistance phenotypes, making the protein of interest in oncology and mitochondrial biology studies.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, at approximately pH 7.3. The antibody is validated for Western blot applications and confirmed reactive with human, rat, and mouse samples. Its polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, which is useful when probing endogenous MRPL48 levels in whole-cell lysates prepared from tissues or cultured cell lines.

Researchers studying mitochondrial translation, ribosome biogenesis, or oxidative phosphorylation complex assembly frequently select unconjugated primaries like this one to retain flexibility in choosing secondary reagents, blocking strategies, and chemiluminescent or fluorescent detection chemistries. Sodium azide is included as a microbial preservative in the formulation buffer.
