Anti-MRP-S22 Antibody

The polyclonal antibody offered by Antibodies.com targets MRP-S22 (Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein S22), a nuclear-encoded structural component of the 28S small subunit of the human mitochondrial ribosome. Raised in rabbit and supplied unconjugated in a 100 µl volume, the reagent is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and ELISA workflows, with confirmed reactivity against human and non-human primate (monkey) samples.

MRP-S22 is essential for mitochondrial translation, and biallelic variants in MRPS22 have been linked to combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency, a rare mitochondrial disorder. Researchers therefore use this reagent to study mitochondrial ribosome biogenesis, mitochondrial translation activity, and the molecular pathology of MRPS22-related oxidative phosphorylation deficiency. The antibody is also useful as a marker when probing cross-species conservation of the mitochondrial small subunit, since monkey cross-reactivity was confirmed alongside human reactivity.
