This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets MRP-L16, a component of the large subunit of the mammalian mitochondrial ribosome. It is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA workflows against human samples.

MRP-L16 (Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein L16) contributes to translation of mitochondrially encoded subunits of the oxidative phosphorylation machinery. Investigators studying mitochondrial biogenesis, mitochondrial translation defects, or disorders linked to impaired respiratory chain assembly use this reagent to assess steady-state levels of MRP-L16 in cultured cell lines and in primary tissue sections.

The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, which is helpful when working with denatured lysates for western blot or with fixed, paraffin-embedded sections for immunohistochemistry. Because the antibody is unconjugated, it can be paired with the user's preferred HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents depending on the chosen detection readout.

For best stability, aliquot the reagent upon arrival to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store the working aliquots refrigerated or at -20 °C. Protect from light when the downstream protocol involves a fluorophore-labeled secondary detection step.
