Myelin Protein Zero (MPZ), also referred to as P0, is the predominant structural glycoprotein of peripheral nervous system myelin, where it mediates compaction of myelin lamellae through homophilic interactions of its immunoglobulin-like extracellular domain. The protein is encoded by the MPZ gene on chromosome 1q23.3 and accounts for roughly half of total peripheral myelin protein content.

This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and recognizes MPZ in human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting studies of Schwann cell biology, peripheral nerve development, and the molecular pathology of demyelinating neuropathies. The unconjugated format leaves detection chemistry open, so the antibody can be paired with HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-conjugated secondaries depending on the assay design.

Provided as 100 µl of liquid reagent, the antibody is validated for Western blot detection of the MPZ band and for immunohistochemistry on peripheral nerve tissue sections, where it stains compact myelin sheaths around axons. Researchers working on Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1B, Dejerine-Sottas syndrome, and related hereditary neuropathies commonly use anti-MPZ antibodies to evaluate myelin integrity, characterize patient-derived Schwann cells, and validate rodent models of demyelination and remyelination.
