MPZ (Myelin Protein Zero) is the most abundant structural glycoprotein in peripheral nervous system myelin, where it holds adjacent Schwann cell membranes together through homophilic adhesion in both the extracellular and intracellular domains. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, packaged as a 100 µl aliquot in a single vial.
The reagent is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples, covering the species most commonly used in peripheral nerve biology and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1B (CMT1B) research, where MPZ mutations are a well-characterized genetic cause. Because the target is a transmembrane adhesion protein rather than a soluble analyte, the antibody is offered as a polyclonal primary antibody without a quantitative detection range, sensitivity value, or specified sample volume tied to a standard curve.
