Produced in rabbit as an unconjugated IgG polyclonal reagent, this Antibodies.com reagent specifically recognizes MOGS, the endoplasmic reticulum-resident type II transmembrane enzyme also known as glucosidase I or GCS1. MOGS initiates N-glycan maturation by trimming the terminal alpha-1,2-linked glucose from Glc3-Man9-GlcNAc2 precursors during the earliest stage of glycoprotein folding in the ER lumen. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of affinity-purified reagent and is validated for western blot detection in human and mouse samples. On blot membranes the mature enzyme migrates as a high molecular weight band consistent with its predicted size, enabling studies of N-glycan processing, ER-associated protein folding quality control, and Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation type IIb (CDG-IIb), the rare glycosylation disorder linked to loss-of-function mutations in MOGS. The polyclonal format presents multiple epitopes across the glucosidase catalytic domain, a practical advantage when monoclonal recognition is lost to species-specific variation between human and rodent orthologues. Researchers are advised to aliquot the antibody upon first thaw and store refrigerated, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve reagent activity across multiple blotting experiments.
