Matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP3), also called stromelysin-1, is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase that degrades components of the extracellular matrix and activates several other pro-MMP zymogens. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets MMP3 and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples. Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, the antibody supports studies of tissue remodeling, wound healing, inflammatory arthritis, and tumor invasion, where MMP3 expression is frequently tracked alongside collagenase activity. Researchers use it to probe full-length pro-MMP3 (~57 kDa) and the catalytically active ~45 kDa form in cell lysates and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections. Because MMP3 cleaves a broad spectrum of substrates — including laminin, fibronectin, and proteoglycans — and amplifies MMP signaling cascades, an antibody specific to this isoform is useful for separating stromelysin-driven catabolism from other matrix turnover pathways in cardiovascular, oncological, and joint disease models.
