Targeting the zinc-dependent endopeptidase Matrix Metalloproteinase 20 (MMP20), also known as enamelysin, this rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. The unconjugated antibody is validated for Western blot detection across Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

MMP20 is predominantly expressed by ameloblasts and odontoblasts, where it cleaves amelogenin during the maturation stage of dental enamel formation. Loss-of-function mutations in MMP20 cause Amelogenesis Imperfecta type 2A1, a hereditary disorder of tooth enamel mineralization. Investigators studying biomineralization, tooth development, and matrix metalloproteinase biology use this reagent on Western blots to probe endogenous MMP20 expression in cell and tissue lysates. As a polyclonal reagent, it recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, supporting robust detection of denatured MMP20 on immunoblots.

Storage guidance: keep refrigerated at 4°C for short-term use, or freeze at -20°C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles. The sodium azide component preserves the solution against microbial contamination. This product is supplied for research use only, in vitro, and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
