Anti-MMP15 Antibody

Raised in rabbit against a synthetic peptide derived from the C-terminal region of human MMP15 (amino acids 611-660), this polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com targets the membrane-anchored matrix metalloproteinase also known as MT2-MMP, MT2MMP, MTMMP2, or SMCP-2. The unconjugated antibody is supplied as a 50 µl liquid aliquot in PBS (without Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺), pH 7.4, containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol, and is validated for western blot detection in human, mouse, and rat samples.

MMP15 is a zinc-binding endopeptidase of approximately 72 kDa encoded on chromosome 16q21 (gene ID 4324). It was originally cloned from a human lung cDNA library and shares 73.9% sequence similarity with MT1-MMP, and is implicated in extracellular matrix turnover, pro-MMP2 activation, and invasive cell behaviour across cancer models including renal cell carcinoma lines (ACHN, 786-O, OS-RC-2), glioblastoma, and urothelial carcinoma. The antibody is also used in studies of epithelial-mesenchymal transition, placental trophoblast biology, and cardiac valve formation.

Shipped at 4°C, the antibody should be aliquoted and stored at -20°C upon arrival to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect from light. Because it is unconjugated, the reagent can be paired with HRP, Alexa Fluor, or other secondary antibody chemistries selected by the end user, and is intended for research use only.
