MAP Kinase Interacting Serine/Threonine Kinase 1 (MKNK1), also called MNK1, is a serine/threonine kinase that phosphorylates eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) at Ser209 and couples MAPK and mTOR signalling to cap-dependent translation. The polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit, supplied as an unconjugated IgG preparation in a 200 µl volume, and validated for western blot detection of the human target.
This primary antibody is reactive against endogenous human MKNK1 and is used in signal transduction studies, translation regulation research, and investigations of oncogenic pathways in which MNK1-eIF4E activity contributes to tumour cell growth and survival. Recommended applications include immunoblotting of whole-cell lysates from human cell lines, where a band consistent with the predicted ~51 kDa MKNK1 protein can be detected. As a research use only reagent, it provides a tool for dissecting kinase-dependent control of protein synthesis in both basal and stimulated conditions.
