Anti-MKLP1 Antibody

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody raised against MKLP1, the mitotic kinesin-like protein (also called KIF23) that drives central spindle assembly and contractile ring constriction during cytokinesis. This unconjugated reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 100 µl in a TBS buffer (pH 7.4) containing 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative, and is validated for Western blot and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.

In dividing cells, MKLP1 concentrates at the central spindle and midbody, where it pairs with RACGAP1 (MgcRacGAP) to form the centralspindlin complex and serves as a substrate for Aurora B kinase. The antibody is therefore a useful marker for tracking late mitotic events, midbody formation, and abscission in fixed-cell imaging, and for following MKLP1 levels by Western blot across the cell cycle. Store the vial frozen at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light during prolonged incubations.
