This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the Microphthalmia-associated Transcription Factor (MiTF), a basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper transcription factor essential for melanocyte lineage commitment, differentiation, and pigmentation. MiTF acts as a master regulator of melanogenesis through direct transcriptional activation of downstream genes such as TYR, TYRP1, and DCT, and is widely used as a diagnostic marker in melanoma research and histopathology. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid antiserum and is validated for chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), Western blot, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry across human, mouse, chicken, and Xenopus samples. Endogenous MiTF migrates at approximately 52-56 kDa and localizes to the nucleus, where it binds E-box and M-box motifs in target promoters. For best results, store the vial at -20°C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; aliquotting upon first use is recommended to preserve antibody activity. This reagent is intended for research use only and is not supplied as a therapeutic or diagnostic preparation.
