Raised in rabbit against the human MHC class I chain-related protein A target, this unconjugated polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a 100 µl liquid aliquot. The reagent binds MICA, a cell-surface glycoprotein that functions as a stress-induced ligand for the NKG2D activating receptor expressed on natural killer cells and certain CD8+ T-cell subsets, and it is validated for western blot detection of the human protein in cell and tissue lysates. Researchers studying NK cell recognition, tumor immune surveillance, transplant immunology, or the cellular response to DNA damage and viral infection routinely use anti-MICA antibodies to monitor stress-pathway upregulation and proteolytic shedding of soluble MICA from tumor or infected cells. The 50% glycerol buffer supports freeze-thaw handling, and the product is intended to be stored at -20 °C with sodium azide included as a microbial preservative for routine bench use, allowing small working aliquots to be kept refrigerated for short-term convenience during ongoing western blot experiments.
