Raised in rabbit against the Melanoma Inhibitory Activity (MIA) protein, this Antibodies.com primary antibody is supplied as an unconjugated polyclonal reagent at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.3. MIA is a secreted ~11 kDa protein originally characterized in melanoma cell lines, where it modulates cell adhesion and detachment through integrin and extracellular matrix interactions and supports tumor cell migration and invasion.

Validated for Western blot detection in Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, the antibody is widely applied in studies of melanoma progression, chondrocyte differentiation, cartilage biology, and signaling pathways that drive epithelial-mesenchymal transition. The 100 µl vial supports multiple SDS-PAGE runs and downstream membrane stripping, and aliquoting the reagent after first use preserves activity during refrigerated storage. Because endogenous MIA expression is highest in differentiating chondrocytes, the reagent also serves as a developmental marker in skeletal and joint tissue research.
