Matrix Gla Protein (MGP) is a vitamin K-dependent secretory protein best known as a physiological inhibitor of soft-tissue and vascular calcification. Loss-of-function mutations in the MGP gene cause Keutel syndrome, and altered MGP expression has been implicated in cardiovascular calcification, chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis, and several tumor biology programs. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against MGP and is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a 100 µl vial.
The reagent is intended for research use only and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative studies across species in vascular biology, bone and cartilage research, and animal models of ectopic calcification. Short-term storage at 4 degrees C is acceptable for working aliquots; for longer periods keep frozen at -20 degrees C and limit freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity.
