Raised in rabbits against the Golgi-resident type II transmembrane glycosyltransferase encoded by MGAT1 (also known as GnT-I), this unconjugated polyclonal antiserum recognizes an epitope on the human enzyme that initiates hybrid and complex N-linked glycan biosynthesis. It is supplied by Antibodies.com at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a 100 µl liquid aliquot, with reactivity validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human tissue. Because MGAT1 catalyzes the addition of the first N-acetylglucosamine branch on the trimannosyl core of nascent glycoproteins, the reagent is used to monitor N-glycan maturation, profile glycosylation changes in disease models, and probe Golgi-resident processing pathways. The polyclonal format broadens epitope coverage across the cytoplasmic, transmembrane, stem, and luminal catalytic domains of the enzyme, and the unconjugated presentation leaves fluorophore, enzyme, or biotin labeling open to the end user. For long-term storage, aliquot on receipt to minimize freeze-thaw cycles and store frozen at -20 °C; the glycerol cushion protects the antibody against repeated handling, while the sodium azide in the buffer is incompatible with live-cell staining or any application for which azide is contraindicated.
