Anti-MFGE8 Antibody

Produced in rabbit as an unconjugated polyclonal reagent, this Antibodies.com antibody targets human MFGE8 (Milk Fat Globule EGF Factor 8), a secreted glycoprotein also called lactadherin. Supplied at 1 mg/ml in a 100 µl vial formulated in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, it is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples and stored at -20 °C.

MFGE8 contains EGF-like repeats and a discoidin-type C2 domain that binds phosphatidylserine on the outer leaflet of apoptotic cells, opsonizing them for engulfment by neighboring or professional phagocytes. Through this efferocytosis pathway the protein participates in tissue remodeling, mammary involution, angiogenesis, and modulation of inflammatory responses, making it a target of interest in studies of cancer, vascular biology, and immune regulation. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the human MFGE8 molecule, and the 50% glycerol cryoprotectant keeps the stock liquid at -20 °C so aliquots can be pulled without repeated freeze-thaw cycling of the whole vial.
