MerTK is a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase in the TAM family (TYRO3, AXL, MER) that mediates efferocytosis — the engulfment of apoptotic cells by macrophages, dendritic cells, and retinal pigment epithelium. Through binding of ligands such as Growth Arrest-Specific 6 (Gas6) and Protein S, MerTK transduces signals that suppress inflammatory cytokine release and support tissue homeostasis. Loss-of-function variants in MERTK are linked to autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa, while overexpression has been documented in non-small cell lung cancer, melanoma, glioblastoma, and acute leukemia, where it contributes to tumor cell survival, migration, and immune evasion.

This recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised against human MerTK and is supplied as an unconjugated, affinity-purified preparation in 100 µl format. It is validated for western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunoprecipitation (IP) on human samples, and the host species is rabbit, allowing clean single-color detection on mouse or non-rabbit secondary systems. The reagent is provided in 1× TBS (pH 7.4) with 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative, and should be stored at –20 °C in small aliquots to limit freeze–thaw cycles. Intended for research use only, it is a useful tool for studies of phagocyte biology, cancer cell signaling, and retinal disease models.
